Dr. Ann D. Thompson is the founding Director of the Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching at Iowa State University. She has also chaired the Department of Curriculum and Instruction for 7 years. Under her leadership, the Department of Curriculum and Instruction has received national recognition for its innovative work in the area of technology in teacher education, including the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education Award for Best Practice in Technology in Teacher Education in 2000.
Dr. Thompson is Past President of the Society for Information Technology in Teacher Education and the editor of the International Society for Technology in Education journal, The Journal of Computing in Teacher Education. She is co-directing the National Technology Leadership Institute, a group of presidents of national educational organizations including NCTM, NSTA, NCTE, and the content area teacher education organizations. She has published more than 30 articles and 3 books in the area of technology in teacher education.
Dr. Thompson has served as major professor for more than 40 Master of Education and 20 Ph.D. in Education students, and has served as the principal investigator on contracts and grants totaling more than 5 million dollars. Dr. Thompson serves as a consultant in the area of technology in teacher education to colleges and universities. She was recently named to the Iowa Academy of Education.
