Jane Howland is a Research Assistant Professor in the School of Information Science & Learning Technologies at the University of Missouri - Columbia. She is Principal Investigator for a U.S. Department of Education grant that focuses on K-5 teachers' use of technology for student assessment. The grant involves the development and implementation of an Internet-based portfolio system and use of handhelds for assessment.

Her teaching and research interests also include CSCL, with emphasis on international linkages through collaborative projects. She is facilitating collaborative projects between the Prince of Songkla demonstration school in Pattani, Thailand and schools in Missouri.
